ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
After completing his BFA at SUNY Buffalo, Rob found his way to the great open spaces and sunlight of New Mexico, where he furthered his studies and earned an MA in Studio Art in 1974. After completing his Masters, Rob remained in New Mexico and worked as an artist, musician and carpenter. He moved to Austin in 1977 where he took a temporary detour from art and music to pursue another one of his passions. He opened a custom woodworking business in 1978. Ultimately, his company became well known in the Austin design and construction community for high quality finishes and craftsmanship. Now that he’s retired from woodworking, Rob has returned to his love of Art, and he’s been able to pick up right where he left off more than 40 years ago.

In his paintings, Rob attempts to create a visual experience that not only pleases the senses with design and color, but also challenges the viewer to look beyond the two-dimensional surface. He passionately employs the use of geometric patterns and shapes to create the illusion of form, structure and space. Within this structure, he skillfully utilizes color to enhance the illusion and to playfully coax one’s feelings. His love of color, structure and symmetry makes each highly-livable painting as surprising as it is logical.

I’ve always been a not so secret admirer of Rob’s artistic talents. So happy for him that he’s able to now indulge himself and the rest of us with more of his paintings! Look forward to seeing what unfolds.
